The ametrine is semi-transparent to transparent with both flawless and opaque areas. Each piece has areas with medium-dark violet color amethyst and with golden-brown citrine color as well. The inside of this piece of natural rutilated quartz crystal rough is absolutely colorless, and it has amazing transparency with 90% of its interior being flawless rock crystal quartz with long curving silver rutile "needles" passing thru most areas! This piece was discovered in an ancient stream bed and has a stream-rolled surface with some reddish iron oxides and with a few fresh breaks. Because of its stream-rolled surface, its exceptional transparency and the long curving rutile needles within it are most easily visible where there is a fresh break on its surface.
