They are completely natural, and they have not been heated or treated in any way. These partially terminated almandine garnet pieces are semi-transparent, and they show rounded dodecahedral forms that were considerably modified due to their formation within a mica schist host rock. A small amount of the biotite mica matrix is still present on their surfaces. We have these natural garnet specimens available in small sizes that are ideal as specimens of natural almandine (also known as almandite) garnet for inexpensive mineral collections, as well as for metaphysical use. Each piece is 100% natural - they have not been heated or treated in any way. They were mined in Minas Gerais, Brazil. They make great specimens of natural gem-grade blue topaz just as they are, although each piece has transparent areas inside and could be ground & polished into beautiful lightly included gemstones as well. These gem-grade topaz pieces are sold by weight. A 10 carat piece measures about 1/2 inch long, and a 50 carat piece measures about one inch long.
