This natural specimen consists of a massive grossular garnet matrix with a 0.25 inch diameter (6.5mm) perfectly terminated hessonite garnet crystal exposed on its upper surface. The deep orange-brown color hessonite crystal has vitreous luster and is transparent with numerous internal inclusions. It shows a combination of both dodecahedral and trapezohedral forms, with trapezohedral faces beveling the edges of the much larger rhombic dodecahedral faces. This specimen stands up naturally in the position shown.

This natural matrix specimen has numerous semi-transparent to transparent hessonite garnet crystals measuring up to 0.25 inches in diameter (6.5mm) with vitreous luster and orange-brown color. These hessonite garnet crystals show a combination of both dodecahedral and trapezohedral forms, with trapezohedral faces beveling the edges of some of the much larger rhombic dodecahedral faces.

This natural matrix specimen has numerous hessonite garnet crystals partially exposed on its front surface. Several of these crystals have individual terminations measuring from 0.5 to 0.7 inches long! These hessonite crystals have resinous luster and very dark orange-brown color. They are highly fractured and are semi-transparent to transparent. This specimen stands up naturally in the position shown.
