This specimen of natural quartz crystal is basically semi-transparent to transparent all the way through the piece with some small cloudy areas, and overall you can see anywhere from 2 to 6 inches into the natural light smoky quartz crystal where ever there is a fresh break on its surface. See a side-view photo, and also a photo showing a different side. This large elestial quartz crystal specimen actually is terminated on the opposite side, however its real beauty is its internal transparency that is best visible when its broken surface is turned up as shown in the photo at left. The terminations on the opposite side have a milky quartz skin that make it difficult to see into the crystal when placed in other positions.
