	This unique item is sold. Code#: opag128 Weight: 7.66 carats Size: 17.7 X 13.8 X 4.9 mm oval cab Location: Mined in Australia Price: $2681.00 This beautifull, genuine black opal cabochon gem mined in Australia is very nicely fashioned and polished. It has a body color of a deep blue with flashes of lighter blues and flecks of greens all throughout the upper side of the gem. Some flashes of blue and green penetrate right through to the back side. This is a solid opal, not a doublet. The back of the gem is mostly a deep gray blue that does penetrate through to the upper side in a few small areas. A few patches of violet and purple also roll across the top as the light or the gem is moved. The photograph shown was taken under incandescent (bulb) light.

The precious opal shell thickness is from 2 MM to over 5 MM thick covering a sandstone center. It is an excellent specimen as is but could be polished to bring out the colors even more.
