The price of natural yellow sapphire gemstones can range significantly depending on the gemstone's clarity (transparency), color, and cutting. Heavily included semi-transparent cabochon gems of natural yellow sapphire have relatively low values even with strong yellow hues. The price can increase by more than 50 times that amount for eye clean well cut yellow sapphire gemstones with strong hues. Eye clean genuine yellow sapphire gemstone prices decrease with increasingly lighter colors. When the clarity and the color remain constant, the value per carat of genuine yellow sapphire gems does increase as the weight increases. The quality of a yellow sapphire gemstone's faceting and its proportions are also important factors when calculating yellow sapphire gemstone values. Natural color (unenhanced - unheated and untreated) yellow sapphire gems are worth about twice the price of heated yellow sapphire gemstones of equal color, weight, clarity and cut. Beryllium diffusion treated yellow sapphire gemstones are worth only a very small fraction of what heat-treated yellow sapphire gems are worth.
